Humans would be considered to be rather unremarkable. Their lack of magic or general powers made them rely on technology instead to progress. Myarashore's humans tend to be warm and welcoming due to living in a small community, while Applefields humans are considered to not be especially good at magic but ingenious.

Compared to other species, humans seem to be rather involved in their community; their strength tends to come from numbers and inventivity over anything else.

 Humans

Humans

Vampires are a well known species for their unusual diet and their vampiric charm used to allure victims and make people more inclined to tell them the truth.
Their heightened speed, hearing, sight and strength are appreciated feats, but nothing tops their ability to turn into bats, given they practice enough and make sure they have enough energy for it. Vampires have red eyes, a pale skin and permanently extended fangs to help them feed. Their species has a deepgoing rivalry with the only other species in Floìsekos; werewolves. Despite their charm and the fact they're a coven, they seem to enjoy their own space by solitude.

 Vampires

Vampires

Werewolves are known for being loyal to their pack, having their heightened strength, speed and hearing to help them realise this goal. Werewolves are shapeshifters; They turn into wolves (or slowly get some physical attributes of wolves) when their emotions get high or there is a full moon present. While werewolves can learn to control their emotional turning, the moon is too strong a source to get proper control over. Wolves look like humans but when they turn they start to grow claws as well as canines and fur around their face. The werewolves have a deepgoing rivalry with their counterspecies; Vampires.

 Werewolves

Werewolves

Bakenekos are cats who, after a certain amount of time being raised by humans, turn into Yôkais. The more they've been mistreated, the more the new yokai will be inclined to do evil things. The more evil, the more their tail forks into two.
Due to the belief they will bring bad luck and disaster to the family that fostered them before they turned, people usually plan on only taking care of a cat for a set amount of time before getting rid of them.

Once transformed, bakenekos will have an ability to shapeshift, eat things much bigger than them and digest poison; their tail can act as a torch as well and they may be found summoning ghost fire. Especially powerful and wicked ones practice necromancy.

 Kitsune

Kitsune

Kitsune are fox yôkais; while a few of them are dedicated to a fox deity and protect local villages, the vast majority simply enjoy a good prank, or punishing wicked people. While they're generally seen as tricksters, they are rarely considered to be evil.

Master illusionists, they are mainly known for their shapeshifting skills.

However they also can summon a special type of fire called Kitsunebi, and have been seen to create illusions out of thin air- be they auditory or visual illusions.

Some also have managed to possess other creatures, making them behave oddly- though usually the goal was more to cause humiliation than actual harm.

Upon reaching 100 years of age, Kitsune may start growing additional tails; the most sage and powerful gain 9 of them and turn white or gold, an outward sign of their great wisdom.

 Kappa

Kappa

Kappas are considered to be amongst the smartest of yôkai. They mostly live around water and are scally with a turtleshell on their back. The source of their power is a dish of water on their head; spilling it will incapacitate them and, if left dry for too long, may even lead to their death.

Very honorable, they will always respect a promise and can be tricked when using their politeness against them (by making them bow and spill their dish as an example). They especially like sumo and playing games such as shogi.

Their supernatural ability relies in their healing skills, wether it be by using traditional medecine or a more magical kind. They also have quite a lot of raw strength.

They love cucumber more than anything and can easily be bribed with it.

 Tengu

Tengu

Tengus are often considered to be dumb and violent; the most powerful of them are usually held responsible for natural disasters, as they can be easy to anger. They value strength and combat abilities and can be seen as a proud people as a result.

They're usually birds of prey, and commonly have feathers all over, though some look more like humans with wings.

Their main advantage on the other yôkais is their ability to fly as well as their martial art prowess. They may also create small balls of miasma, often confused with fire, which will cause disease to people who come too close. Otherwise, flapping their wings can allow them to create powerful gusts of wind.

 Tsukumogami

tsukumogami

After 100 years of existing, objects tend to turn into a tsukumogami; any item can come to life, taking on a semi-human appearance while maintaining the looks of their original item. These are amongst the most common people found in Obakesato.

They are often peaceful and prefer to enjoy their newfound life as sentient creature without causing trouble.

A lot of them seem to be really into celebrating life, and are often jovial and ready to party; however some of them also lament the lack of use before they came to life.

They do not especially have magical abilities, though obviously would be especially good at whatever they were used for before; instruments are great musicians, sandals run fast, and kitchen ustensils cook well as an example.

 Oni

Oni

The most commonly found type of people found in Obakesato; Onis are often bigger than humans, and sport skins of various colors- blue and red being especially common ones. They have horns on top of their heads and very wild, untameable hair as well as sharp claws. Their fashion sense involves a lot of furs and animal prints.

Their abilities tend to rely on pure strength as they are pretty big, though they do also have a tendency to develop magical abilities related to thunder. Their traditional weapon of choice is a club; they're said to be invicible when holding an iron one, though it is more a saying than anything. They also are known to make great henchmen, hence why they are not currently in power- despite a potential wish to be.

 Halflings

Halflings

While Halflings look a lot like humans, a few things differenciate them; halflings are about half the size of humans, tend to walk around barefoot due to tufts of hair on top of their feet, and have slightly pointy ears.

Usually, halflings enjoy a quiet, nice life, without much adventuring, though a few exceptions have been seen. Their way of life involves fieldwork, gardening, good food and alcohols. They enjoy living in burrows.

They are rather skilled in discretion and, surprisingly, are very sturdy for smaller creatures. They seem to be able to blend in with the background easily, though wether it is magical or not is still a heated subject of debate between scholars.

They don't especially have a strong affinity for magic but can master it easily enough.

 Dwarves

dwarves

Dwarves are fierce creatures, looking mostly humanoid but about half the size of a regular sized man. What they lack in height they make up in strength; often rather muscular, they're well known for their combat prowess. They all sport a lush beard, often combed in intricate braids- women included.

Most of them live in caves or generally underground; they're well known for their work on jewelry and ores found in the mines they enjoy digging. While some would call them greedy, most would agree they are simply very talented craftsmen with an eye for beauty. And shiny things are very beautiful.

A bit rough around the edges, while dwarves aren't considered the most polite, they're still very warm and welcoming once you get to know them; their art mostly relies in their craft as they make the most gorgeous items ever. They enjoy trading and adventuring quite a lot as well.

 Elves

Elves

Taller than your regular human and sporting very pointy ears, elves are easy to recognize. Out of all the species in Applefields, they're the one who live longest, with a lifespan of about twice the one of a regular human. They often enjoy wearing robes and long hair, giving them an ethereal look.

They are the ones with the biggest affinity for magic, though they are also good warriors when needed. Their culture mostly revolves around nature conservation and the creation of art, though more of a lyrical type; they are excellent singers, poets, writers and sometimes, painters.
